Dude I've been waiting months for this! I love your style, I think there are precious few that can make history as interesting as you can. Congrats! I wish you nothing but success :D
I had been catching up on ToH this past week and the intros and outros mention this substack. I realized I had not been notified of any new posts recently. So I came back here and found out that there had not been any recent posts here.
I hope that this is a sign that you have been busy with important and profitable other work.
BTW We did buy and listen to the audiobook version of the Verge. We enjoyed it very much and recommend it to all.
Patrick, I am really enjoying the book and encouraging others to read it as much as possible. Would you be able to recommend a good book on the Baroque? I am putting together a class for next semester which focuses on several areas within the School of Fine Arts. I would love to have a 'foundational text' that centers on the social norms, inventions, and historical influences. Many Thanks!
Now, about your July 15, 2021 episode, “49. Iran, Central Asia, and the Caucasus Mountains” — the supplemental article for it isn’t here. I just wanted to say: what a great episode! And what a geography lesson. I was shocked by how little I know about that stretch of Eurasia from India to the Persian Gulf. And where India is in relation to Black & Caspian Seas. And half a dozen other mappish things I learned thru the compelling story of the Oxus Civilization and some Google image searches for maps. Fantastic stuff!
Just bought it now! I started listening to your podcast a couple of years ago, and was admittedly suspect when you moved to pre-history. Though you explained very well what you did it, I thought it was a wrong move. Now it's my favorite podcast, love it! Can't wait to read the book! Good job!
Congratulations Patrick -- after several years of listening to Tides, I'm looking forward to reading this! (It "e-arrived" late last night, right on schedule...)

Are you going to do a virtual book signing like Mike Duncan and offer a signed book??
