I really enjoyed the "historical fiction" intro as it helps contextualize the information. I also appreciate you laying out your argument/evidence for why you believe that the fiction was reasonable. Wouldn't mind more of these.

Agreed - same here!

Fascinating and horrifying, and well done. I wrote a story that tries to tell the origin of the Talheim Death Pit, another neolithic murder mystery.

I'm curious about the use of the term Late Neolithic. This timeframe overlaps with what in Egypt is referred to as the Early Dynastic period. I don't see that Egyptian period referred to as Late Neolithic. Do the terms Late Neolithic/Early Dynastic refer to a specific time frame - 2800 BC or what was going on in the evolution of the culture at the time?

One of my favorite papers (horrific but fascinating). Reminds me of the papers about the LBK massacres

Agree with the „horrific but fascinating“.

I was reminded of all the Pharaos pictured wielding a mace to kill captive enemies half a world away…

This is horrific and compelling. Why is there not a movie about it yet? You know, I still wonder if the men killed their women and children in some kind of ritual sacrifice, now that would make it really worthy of a horror movie

I wonder if the women and children don’t have degrees dove blows does that mean they were overpowered and tied up or drugged and ritually killed?

The new evidence has laid bare post WW2 archeology taboos. Considering the record of european conquest of the Americas, and european warfare going back to the greeks, I do not understand the controversy. Does the violent record justify the violence? The "reenactor" fad and general ancestor worship E.G. viking love, implies we might well tend to admire such power. Or are these trends like those violent Japanese comics....an outlet?
