(This is an old introductory scene from a Tides of History episode - Season 5, Episode 13, “The Roots of Archaic Greece.” These scenes are fun as a kind of sociological storytelling, an attempt to humanize a major trend or summarize a moment from a human perspective.
Oh! I remember this one. It's really good to have the reminder and, especially, the look at the human side of historical times. Campaigns, battles, and royal succession are okay topics, but having perspective on every day lives of humans is fascinating. In fact, this post will send me back to the interview in which you explore this perspective with Amanda Pedant of "Weavers, Scribes, and Kings."
